Reading Comprehension:

For the "primary purpose of the passage" questions, don't default to pick answers that sound like "present evidence that resolves a contradiction.  more likely the answer will be challenge a widely accepted explanation.   The notes should be sufficient to answer the question.

If the question says "explicitly" that means the answer is in the passage.
